Description Mesalt Product type – Hypertonic saline dressing. Principle function – Mesalt® is impregnated with sodium chloride which cleanses moderate to heavily exuding wounds by absorbing exudate, bacteria material from the wound. Recommended use – Indicated for the use of moderate to heavily exuding and infected wounds such as pressure ulcers and surgical wounds. A secondary dressing is required, to assist in autolytic debriding. Frequency of dressing change – Mesalt® can stay intact for up to 7 days, depending on the primary dressing goal of care. A secondary product is required to secure the dressing in place and absorb exudate. Precautions & Contraindications – not to be used on low exuding wounds or anyone with an allergy to sodium or chloride. Available size – 10cm x 10cm
